Pattachitra Paintings

Pattachitra derives its name from Patta in Sanskrit meaning Canvas and Chitra in Sanskrit meaning Painting or Picture. To prepare this piece of art, the canvas has been prepared from sheets of natural silk fabric using extracts of seeds as binding agents and stones of varying smoothness to polish. The colors for the paints are prepared 100% naturally from flowers, leaves, stones, shells, turmeric, lamp black etc. The roots of keya plants is used for brush to paint.
