A beginning carried through leaf and line

Ganesha is deeply associated with beginnings, wisdom and the removal of obstacles.

That makes this composition particularly meaningful within Indie Kaarigari’s Palm-Leaf Pattachitra world.

The sacred figure sits at the centre, surrounded by an architectural frame dense with engraved ornament. The strong pink of Ganesha contrasts with the deep blue background, while the natural palm-leaf surface continues to remain visible through the surrounding detail.

The work is built through the same material progression that defines this collection:

palm leaf → engraved line → natural pigment → sacred image

For Indie Kaarigari, the significance lies not only in representing Ganesha, but in allowing the material itself to participate in that representation.

Stone gives Ganesha permanence.

Dhokra carries the form through wax and fire.

Tussar builds it through fibre.

Here, palm leaf carries Ganesha through incision, line and pigment.
