Product Description

Hand-Engraved • 100% Natural Pigments • Ordered-to-Make Artwork
Ganesha appears not in stillness, but in rhythmic movement.
Shown in his dancing form, the multi-armed deity occupies the centre of an intricately engraved palm-leaf composition, surrounded by a soft green field, ceremonial ornament and a richly worked border.
Warm ochre, muted pink, ivory and green natural pigments bring the figure forward while the engraved lines retain the unmistakable character of the palm-leaf surface.
Handcrafted in Balipatna, Khordha, Odisha, this ordered-to-make artwork turns one of Ganesha’s most joyful forms into a study of movement through line.
Available framed or unframed.

The Story

When auspiciousness begins to move

Ganesha is often encountered in calm, seated forms.

Nritya Ganapati changes the energy.

The body shifts.

The arms extend.

One gesture leads into another.

The sacred figure becomes rhythmic rather than static.

Historical descriptions of Nritta-Ganapati identify this specifically as Ganesha represented in dance, and surviving examples show the deity in dynamic multi-armed poses. IGNCA

That makes palm leaf particularly suited to the composition.

Fine engraved lines can carry the curve of the trunk, movement of the limbs, jewellery, garments and surrounding ornament without turning the image into a heavy block of colour.

The work develops through:

palm leaf → engraved line → natural pigment → rhythm → sacred presence

For Indie Kaarigari, this Ganesha is less about the stillness of a shrine image and more about auspicious energy set into motion.
