The Story
The Story
Before the first light of a ritual ceremony, the silence is broken by a primordial resonance. The Shankha vadika is a soulful tribute to this sacred moment, hand-carved from the revered Khadi Pathara (Soapstone) (Soft Stone) of Odisha. This material, beloved by master carvers for centuries, allows for an extraordinary level of detail—capturing the subtle tension in the blower's cheeks, the rhythmic drape of the saree, and the lifelike conch shell itself.
The blowing of the conch—the Shankha vadika—is a ritualistic tradition believed to emit the vibration of "Om," the first sound of creation. Because it is carved in Khadi Pathara (Soapstone), the sculpture possesses a warm, tactile "skin" that feels alive to the touch. It is a visual representation of purification, designed to cleanse the atmosphere of a home and signal a state of auspiciousness. This piece is not just a statue; it is the physical manifestation of a sacred breath, frozen in time by the artisan’s chisel.

Khadi Pathara (Soapstone) is a "Soft Stone," prized for its carve-ability and tactile beauty. To maintain its detail, avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. A light dusting with a soft, dry brush is recommended. If used for ritual purposes, ensure it is wiped dry with a soft cloth after contact with water or oils to preserve the stone's natural matte patina.
