The Story
The Story
Forged in the prehistoric depths of the earth, the Khiching Black Granite carries a density and darkness that mirrors the cosmic origins of the universe. The Midnight Murali-Manohar is a profound manifestation of this energy—a singular sculpture of Lord Krishna carved from a monolithic block of "Hard Stone." In this Khiching variant, the obsidian-like glassy surface of the granite provides a dramatic backdrop for the divine cowherd, allowing the interplay of shadow and light to bring a celestial depth to his form that only the legendary "Kala Muguni" stone can offer.
This masterpiece captures the Lord in his iconic Venugopal form, intricately carved with traditional motifs characteristic of the Odisha stone tradition. From the Kadamba canopy sheltering him to the meditative expression on his face, every detail is a testament to lineage craftsmanship. The sculpture radiates a sense of ancient peace, designed to serve as a permanent bridge to the spiritual groves of Vrindavan and a sentinel of grace in any sanctuary.
Detailed Sculpture Breakdown:
Kadamba Canopy: At the apex, Krishna is sheltered by the dense foliage of the sacred Kadamba tree. The carving includes textured leaves and hanging flowers, symbolizing the lush, divine environment of Vrindavan.
Head & Crown: He wears an ornate Kireetam (conical crown), symbolizing his divinity. The face is carved with a serene, meditative expression and a gentle smile, essential for high-quality devotional idols.
The Flute (Venu): Held delicately to his lips, the flute is the central element of this form, representing the divine call that attracts all souls toward harmony.
Torso & Jewelry: Features rich ornamentation, including multiple layers of Hara (necklaces), armbands, and a prominent sacred thread, showcasing the medieval Indian art style.
Tribhanga Pose: Krishna is depicted in the classic Tribhanga (tri-bent) posture—bending at the neck, waist, and knee—creating a graceful, fluid silhouette out of unyielding granite.
Garments & Waistband: Draped in a finely carved Dhoti with intricate "U-shaped" folds and a heavy ornamental waistband featuring hanging tassels.
The Cow (Gomatha): Positioned behind Krishna, the cow gazes upward toward him, symbolizing his role as Gopala, the divine protector, and adding a layer of deep devotion.
Lotus Pedestal: The entire sculpture rests on a multi-tiered Padmapitha (lotus base), representing purity and spiritual grounding.

Specifications & Placement:
- Finish:Strategic Texturing—mirror-polished highlights on the skin to reflect light, with detailed matte-relief on the background elements.
- Weight Class: Monumental Hard Stone; the immense density of Khiching granite ensures it is immune to environmental wear.
- Usage: An ideal focal point for a Grand Pooja Altar, a sophisticated living gallery, or a meditative garden where the stone's weather-proof nature allows it to endure for centuries.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Khiching Black Granite is nature’s most durable canvas. It is non-porous and entirely resistant to oils, water, and ritual powders used during Abhishekam. The deep, obsidian luster is permanent and requires no chemical maintenance. A simple wipe with a soft, dry cloth or a rinse with pure water is all that is required to maintain its divine radiance.

Variations & Lighting: Each block of Khiching granite is a unique geological birth; the presence of tiny, star-like mineral inclusions is a hallmark of its 100% natural origin. As a hand-carved work, subtle nuances in the decorative motifs are expected. Please note that professional lighting and digital screen settings may affect the perceived depth of the black and the shadows within the intricate relief work.
